Juerg at Orbit Gold Jewellery has perfected a personal design process for his clients that combines creativity, craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. Here is an overview of the design process:
Inspiration and Conceptualization
The design process begins with gathering inspiration from various sources like nature, art, culture, or personal preferences eg. what does the wearer love to wear? You can use photos, personal possessions, even memories as inspiration to draw on.
Sketching and Rendering
Once the concept is agreed, Juerg creates a series of ideas onto paper. This includes sketches exploring different shapes, forms, and details. A sketch is chosen and then refined, adding more intricate details and proportions. Juerg can also create 3d or wax models of the design.
Material Selection
Once design is approved, the next step is selecting the gemstones. New Zealand mined gold is often a key element due to it’s unique & ethical appeal and the spectacular location of Queenstown. However Juerg is also a GAA certified Diamond Grader and importer. This means his clients can be confident in the quality and ethics of the gemstones chosen. Other elements include Tahitian & NZ Paua pearls, platinum, rose gold, rubies, sapphires and other coloured gemstones. Client preference is integral to this process just as for all stages of design.
Craftsmanship and Production
With the design approved and the previous elements chosen, the design now moves into production. Juerg meticulously crafts each piece, employing traditional skills acquired over 40 years. Attention is paid to every detail, ensuring highest quality craftsmanship and that the piece in reality matches the original design vision.
Quality Assurance and Finishing
Once the jewellery piece is created, it undergoes a final finishing process. This involves polishing, applying surface textures and refining edges. A final inspection is ensuring the piece is flawless.
Presentation
Your jewellery piece will be presented in a Orbit Jewellery collection cherry wood box. It will be accompanied by an independent valuation along with a purchase certificate. From then on it is yours to cherish or gift to someone very special.
